I first want to thank everybody involved in the Rogers High School Girls and Boys Hockey Programs for really rolling out the red carpet and welcoming me to this fantastic hockey program; you have made this transition extremely easy for me and my family and I feel very welcomed at Rogers High School.
I was the Head Girls Hockey Coach at Maple Grove High School for the past nine seasons as well as starting my girls hockey coaching career at Cooper High School for two seasons as the Head JV/assistant varsity coach. I have been involved with the Senior Classic; Junior Festival and Freshman Sophomore programs associated the MGHCA (coaching association) numerous times. I am currently the section 6AA representative to the MGHCA and have been for the past two season as well as being the section 4AA representative for the four years prior to that. I am also currently a co-chair for the coaches mentorship program for helping new coaches. I have been the Section Coach of the year two times as well as the Minnesota Wild 3M Section Coach of the year two times. I am really looking forward to my first, of what I hope, are many years as the Rogers Head Girls Hockey Coach.
I had an opportunity to skate with some of the girls this summer in July and I am very impressed with the skills and determination that our players have. We have all of the makings of a solid program with preparation, hard work and determination the sky is the limit for us. We play in a very competitive conference the Mississippi 8 as well as having a competitive non conference schedule which should push us to get better as the season goes along. As of now we are still in section 6AA which is where I would like to see us remain and this also will be the first season that we are not a coop with Zimmerman that has come to an end.
Youth Hockey gets started in the next few weeks and our numbers for girls hockey are looking better than ever we will have our first ever stand alone 10U team with about forty five girls playing 8U and 6U. We are going to be more involved with the youth girls program than in years past and we are really looking forward to this. Good Luck to all of you in your upcoming seasons and we will see you at the rink. Have a great season!
I would like to close with saying I am really looking forward to the hockey season this year. These kids have great energy and you parents also have great energy and with that it makes my job a lot easier. The sky is the limit for us as we continue to build the Rogers Girls Hockey Program.
