The 2006-2007 Boys Hockey season will, no doubt, be one for the school’s record books. It was a season of many firsts for Rogers Hockey, including a Conference Championship in a very young first four years of existence. 2007-2008 will be a major test for our hockey club. We opened many eyes both within our Conference and in our Section last year. We will, no doubt, need to bring our “A” game to each and every game this year. Teams within the Conference will be looking to take the Mississippi 8 Title away from us, and the caliber of Non-Conference hockey is exceptional for our squad this season. The Mississippi 8 Conference proves to be very competitive again this year, and our quest to defend the Title will have to include going through Buffalo, Cambridge and Monticello. Pre-Season rumblings predict Buffalo as the favorite to win the M8, but we will see what we can do about that! Our Section also will be very strong, but our taste of AA last season, and our schedule this season, should prepare us nicely entering into Sections in February. We graduated 10 seniors off of last years’ squad, which would have a significant impact to any hockey team. However, I am very excited with the young talent and heart I have to work with this year and, coupling that with our returners, I expect to be a team contending for a repeat Mississippi 8 Title and wreaking havoc in Section 5AA. We open up November 12th, and are participating in Blake’s Super Scrimmage on November 17th – which will be a true test for the boys with scrimmages against Totino Grace, Rochester Lourdes and Blake. We open the season against Waseca on November 24th at home. This should be a very electrifying and exciting home opener with the raising of the Mississippi 8 Championship banner. We truly appreciate your support and hope to see you there on November 24th. Go Royals!
